about

Acclaimed American progressive rock legends Rocket Scientists returned to the studio after a previous 8-year hiatus to record their epic double album, "Revolution Road." Combining Rocket Scientists' extraordinary blend of melodic and memorable songwriting with adventurous instrumental fireworks, "Revolution Road" takes the band to new heights of artistic achievement. Founding members Mark McCrite (guitar, vocals), Erik Norlander (keyboards) and Don Schiff (NS/Stick) started writing and demoing songs for the album in 2002 and even played some California concert dates. But following the loss of their drummer, Shaun Guerin, the project was put on hold. The three musicians continued to collaborate on other projects including Lana Lane's "Winter Sessions" and "Lady Macbeth" CDs and Norlander's "Music Machine" concept album. Norlander also produced Don Schiff's remarkable 2005 solo album, "Peering Over Clouds". But following the Lana Lane 10th Anniversary Tour in 2005, McCrite, Norlander and Schiff officially reunited again as Rocket Scientists and began to record this new studio opus.

"Revolution Road" brought two new guest musicians to the Rocket Scientists universe. Drummer Gregg Bissonette, who previously played on Norlander's "Music Machine" and Lana Lane's "Covers Collection" and "Winter Sessions" CDs, brings his dynamic versatility and technical excellence to the band. South Carolina's David McBee was also brought in as the second lead vocalist. McBee's powerful hard rock vocal ethic served as the perfect contrast to McCrite's smooth and warm vocal stylings. Together, the two vocalists are a formidable pair that take Rocket Scientists to new uncharted worlds. "Revolution Road" is produced by Erik Norlander, and it contains stunning artwork from Polish surrealist Jacek Yerka who painted the cover to the band's last album, "Oblivion Days", Schiff's solo album, "Peering Over Clouds", as well the unforgettable covers that appear on the many famous Lana Lane albums.

"Sky is Falling"
McCrite / Norlander © 2006 Waking Dream Music

The sky is dark, the weather is strange
Something in the air, a warning of change
Na na na na na
I must be dreaming

No report in the weatherman’s log
Electric light and mystical fog
Na na na na na
Tell me I’m dreaming

Under strange new skies
I used to see the future, now I dream of days gone by
I can’t close my eyes

The sky is falling

Static is high, tension in the air
No one sees but it’s everywhere
Na na na na na
I must be dreaming

Everywhere doubts and rumors fly
Gravity shifts and tides go awry
Na na na na na
I must be dreaming

Under strange new skies
I wish it was a dream but I just can’t ignore the signs
I can’t close my eyes

The sky is falling

Spiraling clouds are blocking out the sun
No new moon and nowhere to run
Na na na na na
Tell me I’m dreaming

One more chance to set things right
Face the fear with all my might
Na na na na na
Tell me I’m dreaming

Under strange new skies …

Past the corner, round the bend
Signpost leading the way to somewhere that you’ve never been
After midnight, can’t pretend
Started out as a daydream but it’s never gonna end

Shapes and shadows everywhere you see
Shifting like the sands beneath your feet

Past the corner, round the bend
Signpost leading the way to sometime, don’t know where or when
After midnight, the story ends
Cross a garden of four leaf clovers, it begins again

Shapes and shadows everywhere you see
They’ve become a part of me

I dream in red
Bright as morning sun and dark as dread
I dream in red
Fire in the sky where angels bled

Past the corner, ‘cross the way
Keep on walkin’ on down the old road, you’ll keep the foe at bay
After midnight, got to stay
Right there along the path from birthright to the judgment day

Shapes and shadows everywhere you see
They’ve become a part of me

I dream in red
Bright as morning sun and dark as dread
I dream in red
Fire in the sky where angels bled

Behind the saddest eyes one thing is always true
It’s really not so hard as it may seem
A silent prayer I made but never said to you
May it find the way into your dreams

That someday you will fly up where the skies are blue
But you don’t have to leave to find a better view

Inside your lonely world there isn’t time for dreams
When you won’t try to feel beyond the pain
It’s what you choose to be when all you try to see
Makes every color start to look the same

Someday you will fly up where the skies are blue
But you don’t have to leave to find a better view

When time is on your side you know you just can’t lose
By letting go of all that’s come before
And if you change your mind I know you’ll surely find
Happiness is just outside your door

Someday you will fly up where the skies are blue
But you don’t have to leave to find a better view

Someday you will find a place a where skies are blue
But you must learn to see to find a better view

There’s a light in the darkness
The power of one firefly
Deep as the ocean, sure as the sky
There’s a crack in the shadows
Caught by the light in your eyes
A glimpse of forever
Where hope never dies

Take me down the water’s edge
Ease my heavy load
Send me forward to journey’s end
Revolution Road

There’s a change in the season
The power of one passerby
Time is a river, and it’s rushin’ by
Just one chance for redemption
It’s the power of why
High as the mountains, sure as the sky

Take me down the water’s edge
Ease my heavy load
Send me forward to journey’s end
Revolution Road

Turn me on to a better mode
Save me from my dreams
Tell me it’s never all it seems
Revolution Road

There’s a light in the darkness
The power of one firefly
Deep as the ocean, sure as the sky
There’s a crack in the shadows
Caught by the light in your eyes
For we are forever
A soul never dies

Take me down the water’s edge
Ease my heavy load
Send me forward to journey’s end
Revolution Road

Turn me on to a better mode
Save me from my dreams
Tell me it’s never all it seems

Track Name: Forever Nights
"Forever Nights"
McCrite / Norlander © 2006 Waking Dream Music

Sun in the darkness
Of an alien sea
Legions of shadows
Wash over me

They came with the moonlight
Like lycanthropy
Took my senses
Away from me

Don’t you ask me how I feel
‘Cause I don’t feel fine
A cruel wind that crossed my mind
Left me blind

It happens at midnight
When the full moon is high
Spirits in darkness
Pass me by

They hide in the shadows
Something unseen
In every moment
And in between

Don’t you ask me how I feel
‘Cause I don’t feel fine
A cruel wind that crossed my mind
Left me blind

Don’t you say that it’s alright
‘Cause it’s not all right
Dark days, forever nights
Forever

Sun in the darkness
Of an alien sea
Oceans of shadows
Carry me

Dark is the moonlight
On an empty marquee
No more pictures
Nothing to see
Don’t you ask me how I feel
‘Cause I don’t feel fine
A cruel wind that crossed my mind
Left me blind

Don’t you say that it’s alright
‘Cause it’s not all right
Dark days, forever nights
Forever
Track Name: Savor Every Moment
"Savor Every Moment"
Music and Lyrics by Mark McCrite
© 2006 Waking Dream Music, BMI

Frozen in time, every second sublime
Like the cool summer breeze
Drink in each day so in love with the way it goes by

And long for the days yet to come
Speeding through time
You’ll think back to the days you were young

So savor every moment
Don’t let it slip away
Days passing by in the blink of an eye
And they fade to gray

Savor every moment
Before it slips away
Time moves along
Learn how to live for today

Careless and free
Trying to see through the eyes of a child
But caught up in life
You won’t see it all ‘til it’s gone

Remember when you’re on your own
No matter where you are
You don’t have to feel all alone

So savor every moment
Don’t let it slip away
Days passing by in the blink of an eye
And they fade to gray

Savor every moment
Before it slips away
Time moves along
Learn how to live for today

Just for today
Just for today
Track Name: Castles Fall
"Castles Fall"
McCrite / Norlander © 2006 Waking Dream Music, BMI

One last night to seal your fate
In the morning you will find them there at the gate
It’s too late

Years have come and gone, you’ve lived
Like there’s no tomorrow but now the future is here
Real as fear

Castles fall
All you believers in building walls
There is a price to pay
For every game you play
All your castles fall

One more kingdom built in the shadows
And on the backs of millions of people enslaved
Gone in waves

Years will pass and then we’ll see
That another generation longs to be free
Lives to lead

Castles fall
All of you standing on prison walls
There is a price to pay
For every game you play
All your castles fall

Castles fall
All you believers in building walls
There is a price to pay
For every game you play
All your castles fall

Castles fall
All of you standing on prison walls
No time to turn away
You’re just a breath away
From your castle’s fall
Track Name: Enjoy the Weather
"Enjoy the Weather"
McCrite / Norlander © 2006 Waking Dream Music, BMI

Finding your way to tomorrow
Pay no attention to the passing time
Nobody knows all the answers

Well you’ve seen a lot
But never tried to take it in
And you’ve sailed by every port along the way

Maybe you’ve burned all your bridges
Thinking there’s no time for the lessons learned
Maybe you really believe that nothing’s changed

But clouds will gather
And rain will fall
Enjoy the weather
‘Cause soon it’s gone

Wandering away into shadow
Time is shorter with every breath
Losing yourself in illusion

It’s a lonely world
When all you see is wasted time
So you better find yourself some sunny days

‘Cause clouds will gather
And rain will fall
Enjoy the weather
‘Cause soon it’s gone

Sailing away to forever
No one can fathom what’s on your mind
Maybe you’ll find what you need in different light
Track Name: Pay Your Dues
PAY YOUR DUES
Words and music by Erik Norlander
© 2006 Waking Dream Music, BMI

Dream on
On through the night
I'd sail away on ships of fantasy
But the dream is gone
By morning light
It's strong enough to wake me

The time is now

Pay your dues
Pay your dues

Sail on
Into the light
Yesterdays are your tomorrows
And the dream goes on
No end in sight
Forever joy, forever sorrow

The time is now

Pay your dues
Pay your dues

And when it's over and you're at the book of life
What did you do with what they gave you
And if you had the chance
Do it over, get it right
What would you do to pay your dues

Dream on
On through the night
I stole away on ships of fantasy
And I'm sailing on
'Til morning light
And take my soul to safety

The time is now
Track Name: Eden Burns
"Eden Burns"
McCrite / Norlander © 2006 Waking Dream Music

Down from the mountain
With word from the sky
They’re turning the gears and
Advancing designs

We’re hungry and thirsty
But they dried up the well
Promises broken
An old tale to tell

A whisper to a shout
As the rainbow hits the pavement
There’s no way out
And nobody can return
When Eden burns

Word from Olympus
They’re runnin’ out of time
They’re lining their pockets
And planning to fly
It’s nobody’s business
But everyone’s pain
They’re making umbrellas
And praying for rain

A whisper to a shout
As the rainbow hits the pavement
There’s no way out
And nobody can return
When Eden burns

Reversal of fortune
You swallow your pride
The moment eludes you
No time on your side
The hopeful are helpless
The greedy are poor
The temples are empty
With locks on the doors

A whisper to a shout
As the rainbow hits the pavement
There’s no way out
And nobody can return
When Eden burns
Track Name: House of Cards
"House of Cards"
Norlander / McCrite © 2006 Waking Dream Music, BMI

You’re dealing with a deck of jokers
Pulling the ace from the center ring
The jester has a face for poker
But who is the fool and what will he bring

Living in a house of playing cards
You got to get up to get down
Living in a house of playing cards
Got to get your feet on the ground

You’re walkin’ on a silver tightrope
Many miles up from the ground
But blinded by the glory of high hope
Remember how far there is to come down

Living in a house of playing cards
You got to get up to get down
Living in a house of playing cards
Got to get your feet on the ground

You’re dealing with a deck of jokers
Pulling the ace from the center ring
The jester has a face for poker
But who is the fool and what did he bring …
